It has been a very successful end of 2024 and start to 2025 for our SFT Students. From a flurry of First Solos to a Flight Instructor Rating, we are delighted to be able to share these achievements in recognition of everyone’s hard work. We are exceptionally proud of each and every one of you!
Brady McWilliam - Private Pilot Licence
Congratulations to Brady McWilliam who achieved his PPL. Brady has been working hard at his flight training over the last year with Instructor Kayla whilst also working full-time at his surveying job and gaining his drone licence. We wish Brady all the best moving forward and will hopefully see him back in the skies training towards a CPL.
Silas Whitehead - First Solo
Huge congratulations to Silas Whitehead on achieving his First Solo recently! Silas is only 15 years old, the youngest anyone is able to complete their first solo - a true testament to his hard work and dedication with Instructor Richard. We look forward to following Silas’ progress throughout the rest of his RPL training. Well done Silas!
Callum Whitten - Multi-Engine Class Rating
Well done to Callum Whitten who passed his multi-engine class rating with SFT. Callum is now eligible to fly any multi-engine aircraft provided no additional training is required on the aircraft type. Callum also obtained his Retractable Undercarriage Design Feature Endorsement through doing the MEA course in our Piper Seminole. We look forward to following Callum’s journey as he progresses through to CPL.
Joshua Ramos - Flight Instructor Rating
Massive congratulations go to Joshua Ramos who passed his Flight Instructor Rating with us! Josh managed to beat some low cloud, heading out to Camden before 7am to meet with testing officer Steve. Once they completed the ground component, the cloud had lifted to a beautiful (but warm) CAVOK day where Josh passed his test with flying colours. Josh has been flying with us since his CPL, gaining his CPL, MEA, IFR, and now FIR ratings with us. It has been a pleasure having Josh around and watching him progress through these ratings, and we wish him all the best in his future career endeavours.
Charlie - First Solo
Congratulations to Charlie Hoskin for achieving his First Solo!! Charlie was lucky and had beautiful weather in the morning before the clouds, rain, and thunderstorms started rolling in. A great start to the New Year for this young man, and we look forward to seeing him progress through to his RPL with Instructor Wes.
Brendan Denton – First Solo
Awesome job to Brendan Denton who achieved his First Solo. Brendan and Instructor Aaron have been flying our C152 KKB in the mornings to take advantage of the calm weather and work towards his first solo. Brendan luckily picked the one sunny day of that week to go flying and had the opportunity to fly one circuit by himself. Well done Brendan!
Almotazbellah Salahat (Noah) – First Solo
Congratulations to Noah on the completion of his First Solo flight! Noah has been training with Instructor Aaron, and being so tall, much prefers the Warriors – he says he would fly from the back seat if he could! Noah experienced lovely flying conditions on the day of his solo, and we are excited to see his skills progress towards RPL.
Adam Brown – First Solo
Congratulations to Adam Brown on completing his First Solo flight recently! Adam and Instructor Kate have been making the most of the beautiful morning weather and conducting 6am flights whilst working towards this milestone. Well done, Adam, we look forward to seeing your progress through to RPL and hope you continue to take advantage of the morning conditions!
Lockie Austin – First Solo
Congratulations to our very own hangar kid Lockie Austin on completing his first solo flight! Along with his electrician apprenticeship and doing a wonderful job of looking after our hangar and fleet of aircraft, Lockie has been working hard towards his first solo with Instructor Kate. Lockie and Instructor Kayla enjoyed beautiful conditions before his solo flight, and he was able to beat the afternoon thunderstorms to get in one lap by himself before the weather started to turn. Well done Lockie!
Adam Hughes – Private Pilot Licence
Well done to Adam Hughes on passing his PPL recently! Adam began his flight training in the UK 10 years ago, then moved to Australia and continued his training here. After a few delays due to weather, Testing Officer Steve and Adam went out on a lovely day up to Cessnock for the flight test. Congratulations Adam, we look forward to seeing you again soon with some eager passengers!
Samuel Noud - Multi-Engine Class Rating
Congratulations to Samuel Noud on completing his Multi-Engine Class Rating with us recently! Sam has been working towards his Class Rating in our Seminole PIE with Instructor Kayla, who also taught him PPL at their previous flight school – a lovely full circle moment. Sam and Examiner Mark beat the rainy weather conditions and headed out into the training area and Camden for the flight test, where Sam demonstrated his competency in the aircraft and in particular the One Engine Inoperative procedures. We wish Sam all the best as he pursues training for his Instrument Rating on his journey to become an Airline pilot.
Nick Klein – First Solo
Well done to Nick Klein who achieved his First Solo recently! Nick has been training diligently alongside his son, Benji, with Instructor Aaron, and was able to take to the skies by himself to join Benji in the ‘First Solo’ club. We look forward to seeing Nick’s progress throughout RPL and can’t wait to see this father-son duo continue their flight training together.
